FRAUENSTREIK featuring Lucern

On Saturday, June 14, 2025, women across Switzerland, including in Lucern, gathered to participate in the feminist strike.

Under the slogan “No Step Back – Together for More Equality”, they demand equal pay, better working conditions, and greater social recognition. The strike particularly targeted wage discrimination and called for the implementaion of mandatory pay audits in companies.

In Lucern, demonstrators marched throught the Old Town, accompanied by music, banners, and chants. There were also speeches by some activists who touched on topics such as patriarchy, Eurocentrism and genocide. The event was peaceful and attracted many supporters.

The strike was part of a nationwide movement with similar demonstrations in cities such as Zurich, Bern, Basel, and Lausanne.

June 14 remains a key date in the calendar of Switzerland’s feminist movement.
